Whiskey Daisy

Jerry Thomas’ Bar-tenders Guide 1887

Take 3 dashes gum syrup (use simple syrup)
2 dashes Orgeat syrup (almond syrup can be substituted here)
The juice of half a small lemon
1 wine-glass of whiskey (4 ounces)

Fill glass one-third full of shaved ice.  Shake well, strain into a large glass, and fill up with Seltzer or Apollinaris water. (Perrier water works great.)
